360 Degrees Vintage

Last weekend I made a discovery... another little pocket of London which I had never visited before. Of course, I have a long way to go before I am as clued up as a true Londoner - but I was, nonetheless, content with stumbling across 360 Degrees Vintage - a quaint vintage boutique, tucked away inside the hustle and bustle of Greenwich's Saturday market.

True to it's name, your vision is pulled in every direction as every nook and cranny of the characteristic space is adorned with lovingly worn fabrics and quirky, one-off pieces. From 1940s tailored blazers to heavily sequinned eighties gowns, I couldn't help but be drawn to the retro furniture, styled alongside draping jacquard fabrics (reminiscent of my grandma's living room curtains) and eclectic accessories that have been strategically placed to look as though they just 'happen to be there.'

... And as if the chintzy styling wasn't enough, the fact that the owners embrace everything patriarchal is enough to temporarily transport you to a vision of good, old fashioned Britain - whereby drinking Earl Grey tea and passing the day by with a little needlework seems quite an idyllic way of life. x

Frock me! Alexa Chung

Oh my Alexa - what a pretty dress you have!

Picking up my weekly dose of Stylist magazine on my Wednesday evening commute back from work (2 weeks ago now) I couldn't have been more envious as I turned to the d.p.s of Alexa Chung & her latest advertorial for Superga. Perhaps the Italian footwear company should consider Pr-ing vintage tea dresses instead because this has certainly spurred me on to start the charity shop hunt for replicas of these beauties!

I should be so lucky... x

Who said that Monday mornings had to be glum?

... This image just proves that the mundane can always be injected with glamour - give me road signs mixed in with handbags & gladrags any day! x

Attic Relics

... Wondering down Redchurch Street in London's edgy Shoreditch district - I didn't expect to find such a treasure trove of pattern, colour and kooky motifs stashed away in an inconspicuous black building - known only for its random art exhibitions.





Housing the works of Gavin Bennett: a multimedia artist who uses dis-used objects which can only be described as satirical statements based upon society's consumer habits. The collaboration between Eley Kishmoto's AW 11/12 collection and the controversial art works in and around the space only added to the concept of their exciting new collection...



From bats to digital floral prints; stripy knits are combined with more vintage inspired pieces which are updated with loud, unexpected colour combinations. To sum up: 'Attic Fantastic' is simply a playful collection of randomness... just how I like it! x

Bold is beautiful

Ok - Summer (or, come to think of it - Spring) might not be upon us just yet but just as London Fashion Week confirmed - colour is bold & brash for SS11 & if this beautiful floral design has anything to go by; vivid hues are set to make a statement in every area of design...

From colour blocking to texture stacking - this unconventional marriage of multi-seasonal flowers sums up the word 'eclectic' just wonderfully.x

Fluro filled SS11

Neon strip lighting had never been used in such a creative way before Next's Spring/Summer '11 launch. Set in the uniquely restored Central London church - One Marylebone's grandeur was perfect for creating the ultimate juxtaposition between the classic & contemporary.

Replacing mannequins with inventive free-standing structures, the kids wear channelled it's on trend, 'mini-me' looks through a series of coherent collections: Bijoux - a nautical tale of stripes, jaunty styling and playful silhouettes for the younger girl; Carousel for the younger & older girl who equally love to dress up. Indigo is for boys who say, Ahoy! to the life of a sailor whilst Harvard offers a more refined, preppier look with it's collegiate polos and chino trousers.


Home is a homage to retro inspired prints & opulent tones, along with heavily textured surfaces and an eclectic mix of materials. From recycled tinted glass to laser-cut ceramics; key pieces were styled in an unconventionally Next fashion as the palettes from each story were merged together to create one sophisticated colour concoction. x

Lost in London

So - it is beyond ridiculous how much time has passed by since graduating from my patch-worked world of embroidery threads, sketchbooks and fabulous fabrics but, what can I say - life since university has been one huge whirlwind!

Having left the comfort of my Yorkshire roots behind - this girl packed her bags & came to London 6 months ago - all in the name of the fashion industry and ouila! Say hello to a fully fledged PR girl who lives at 100mph, feeling like she's plunged straight into Andrea's shoes in The Devil Wears Prada.

Press Launches, Fashion Awards, Photo Shoots & more - there is simply far too much to cram in to this one blog post that could sum it all up. I guess I will have to do some concise editing of the past 6 months if I am to share what has been the most challenging, fast-paced & exciting time of my post-grad life to date...
